Highlights from our current plan Our commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) will always be part of how Altis Recruitment does business. Our desire is to make a real impact, ensuring equal opportunity to meaningful employment for all. We’re at the start of a long journey and will continuously evolve our words and actions with the intentional goal of integrating inclusion, fairness and diversity into everything we do. To develop our DEI plan, we consulted with experts, gathered employee input during fireside chats, conducted an anonymous employee engagement survey, and more. The end result is a plan that focuses on three main pillars:

How We Champion Diversity in the Hiring Process

One of the key areas of focus in our commitment to fostering greater Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Altis is, of course, the workplace. As part of our commitment, we’ve been more intentional about reducing systemic barriers to employment by incorporating DEI into every step of our recruitment and hiring process, both to build our own team and when working with our clients. A key first step is teaching hiring managers about unconscious bias—preconceived notions that can have a serious impact on hiring decisions. We’ve shared our top five tips to help you get started.

Newcomer Program

In 2017, we set out to improve the lives of newcomers in a direct way – by offering three-week paid internships in our company to help catapult them over the wall of “Canadian experience,” a barrier that prevents so many talented immigrants from finding success here. 

Our Newcomer Program has welcomed more than 70 participants, mentoring and supporting many of them into attaining permanent careers. 

If you’re new to Canada and eager to land your first job here, learn more below.

Participants in this program gain Canadian work experience, establish a professional network and are able to use our company as a lifelong resource. Throughout the three-week, paid internship, we’ll cover topics like “Promoting yourself on LinkedIn,” “Creating an Impactful Resume,” “Human Rights” and “Interview Tips and Tricks.” 

Our goal is that the experience you gain at our firm will open the doors to more opportunities.

  • Haven’t yet had the opportunity to gain work experience in Canada 
  • Currently reside in Canada and are legally able to work in Canada
  • Have access to a personal computer and WiFi connection 
  • Are passionate about building a career in Canada 
  • Project positivity and are open to coaching and feedback
