In 2017, our team set out to improve the lives of newcomers in a direct way – by offering paid internships in our company to help catapult them over the wall of “Canadian experience,” a barrier that prevents so many talented immigrants from finding success here.
Since its inception, our Newcomer Program has welcomed more than 70 participants, mentoring and supporting them into attaining permanent careers after completing the program. We’ve developed specialized streams, including human resources, administrative services, finance and marketing to ensure the participants’ experience is maximized based on their skills and background.
In addition to 8-10 weeks of paid work experience in these specific streams, we’ve added skills development, networking opportunities, Altis Academy training (our internal training and development program for new hires), and candidate marketing, so we can better promote our Newcomer participants on their teams and to our community.

Space is limited in this program. However, we’re reserving spots specifically for Ukrainian newcomers to Canada who are searching for meaningful work. This paid internship program runs fully remote for 8-10 weeks and includes the use of a laptop and headset for the duration of the internship.
FREE Job Search Series for Ukrainian Newcomers
We hosted a FREE series of job-search webinars, offered partly in Ukrainian, earlier this year. Each session was one-hour in duration. Session one covered Canadian resume + LinkedIn profile tips and session two covered job search + interview preparation tips.
Participants heard from experts on our team and had an opportunity to book a 1:1 coaching and mentoring session. Our goal is to offer support and resources to help newcomers navigate the Canadian labour market.
